The Art of Type
A published book covering the history of typography and it's evolution throughout each decade.
Overview
The Art of Type: Typographic Inspirations is a 100 page book created by Carinna Hill that explores the history of typography, major art and design movements, and design influences throughout every decade. From the pre-1900's to today, this book gives a brief, yet detailed, history of design and type. For those who love art history and typography, this book is a must have.
Approach
For this book, the goal was to achieve a simple, yet modern layout to allow each decade of design to speak for itself. Every decade features one color significant from that time to serve as the background, to set each chapter apart from the others. The book cover was delicately designed by Carinna; she hand wrote the title, then digitized it to add effects.
