Overview
Scripts & Letterforms is a zine created by Carinna Hill that explores the history of calligraphy and its shift to modern hand-lettering. It covers history, traditional techniques and tools, how-to's, many examples of beautiful calligraphy/hand-lettering, and tear-out practice sheets.
Approach
My love for calligraphy began when I was around 13 years old. For this zine, my goal was to do a deep dive into the world of calligraphy and hand-lettering, and hopefully inspire others to start exploring it. I wanted the look and feel to be very Victorian and a bit vintage, and I aimed to use (almost) all original works.
